New Year Fitness:
We’re over half way into January, meaning you’re about three weeks into smashing your 2020 fitness regime, right? Well…
Whether you have spent the past couple of weeks intensely smashing your workouts or have yet to make the leap to start, it is those who actually stick to their fitness plan who will come out on top this year.
We understand the initial new year excitement. You write down your (more than likely fitness related) resolutions and promise yourself that by the end of the year or in some cases, by summer you will have your “dream body”. You’re motivated and smash all gym sessions during January. Hey, you might even throw in some unexpected extra workouts each week. You are focused and your goal is in sight! Nothing can throw you off..or so we often convince ourselves.
We see it first hand year on year – the number of gym goers declining as the year goes on. This year we are determined to keep our members progressing in our gyms all year round. We want to educate people on how to stay motivated and keep on track to truly see long-lasting results. We have created a blog containing 3 key tips to help you STICK to your 2020 fitness plan.

Analyse your goals
Re-visiting your resolutions is a good place to start. A lot of the time we set unrealistic goals for ourselves. Our expectations are too high and if we don’t see physical changes within a short period of time we feel defeated and lose motivation. This is often the time where people resort back to old habits and give up.
When starting off, it is important to set goals that are achievable. Setting mini targets which lead to one bigger goal is a great way to begin in your fitness journey. Smaller goals like “I want to lose 5lbs in 5 weeks” allows for a more specific and timed goal set which is achievable. Striving for smaller performance goals in the gym is another great way to keep motivated. Attempting to increase your push-up or pull-up count week on week is fun, challenging and most importantly, rewarding. These smaller goals can be achieved and celebrated more frequently and will keep you encouraged to stay on track. So remember, small steps can achieve big goals with persistence and drive.
Assess your lifestyle
When creating fitness goals, a good idea is to factor in your current lifestyle. Do you work late evenings? Will morning sessions work better for you? How many times a week will you make it to the gym? Do you have an unpredictable work schedule that will interfere with your fitness routine? These are all questions worth asking yourself. Understanding the amount of free time you have to get to the gym will help you make the most out of your weekly training sessions. That’s why pre-planning your workout schedule to fit around your specific day-to-day life is key.
Something worth trying is sectioning off a strict amount of dedicated fitness hours each week in your calendar as an aim to complete. For customised training plans meet with a member of our Club Vitae team who are more than happy to help you make the most of your 2020 fitness journey.

Make it a habit
Making health and fitness a true priority this year will allow you to achieve your desired goals. Once you remain consistent with your training and diet plan, going to the gym will become a hobby and will no longer feel like a chore. Making good health decisions (which initially feel challenging) for a consistent amount of time will eventually feel like second nature.
We understand that it can be easy to fall off the bandwagon and let a few weeks go by with no attempt at making the gym. It is in these times where we need to remind ourselves of your goals. Re-visit your initial resolutions and if progress has seemed slow, perhaps try something new. Ask a member of our staff for ways in which you can switch up your routine to better your progress. The key to success is to never give up. If you have a bad week, keep going. If you have a bad month, forget about it and get back into routine. The main thing is that you get back up and try again. Once health and fitness becomes a habit in your life you will look forward to getting to the gym and being that one step closer to achieving your goals. Remember where you started and give yourself credit for how far you have come.
If you’re feeling lost in the gym at any stage during the year contact one of our fantastic instructors who can help lead you in the right direction and get you back on the road to gains and success.

Whilst we could write a full blog on how to see results, the do’s and don’ts of fitness, instead we believe a more realistic and beneficial approach is educating people on how to stay motivated and keep on track to truly achieve long-lasting goals.
We understand that everyone’s lifestyle is different.
